Sidebar hacks for using the Sidebar in Horse Browser, including Menu Options and how to collapse your Sidebar
Horse Browser is a new web browser designed to help you stay organised online. Every link you click opens a new page on the Trail, a nested list of pages stored in your sidebar. This lets you see exactly how you navigated to each site, eliminating the clutter of traditional tabs.

Why is the Sidebar so important?

The Sidebar is where the magic happens in Horse Browser. It’s where your Trails of pages are stored. And it's where you can re-arrange your Trails and pages to create your own research and productivity system.

➤ How to open the Page Options menu in the Sidebar

When you right-click a page or click ••• next to a page in the Sidebar, the Page Options menu will appear. It includes many useful features.
You can choose the following options in the Menu:
Rename - change the name of your page to its own unique name
Change icon - customise your Trail with a personalised icon or emoji
Edit link - edit and change the URL you are currently viewing
Copy link - copy the current URL
Copy Trail - copy your current Trail to Markdown
Back - navigate back from your current page
Forward - navigates forward from your current page
Reload - reloads your current page
Open Page - opens a new page on the Trail
DevTools - Untoggles developer tools
Permissions - Enable or disable webcam and microphone access, and more
New Folder - Create new Folder on the Trail
New Note - Create new Note on the Trail
New Site - Create new SubTrail
Delete - Delete your current page

➤ The layout of the Sidebar

New Trails, Folders, Areas and Notes open by default at the top of your Sidebar, although you can drag-and-drop your pages and Trails to wherever you wish.
You can open new Trails, Folders, Areas and Notes by clicking the icons at the top of the Sidebar. Each of these features will open by default at the top of your Sidebar.
When you view Downloads and History in Horse Browser, these will appear as lists at the bottom of your Sidebar.

➤ How to hide the Sidebar

To collapse the sidebar click <<  at the top of the Sidebar. Hiding the Sidebar is a useful option if you want to do some deep focus work on a specific page. Perhaps you need to draft a long email, read a research paper or tweak a design layout. This feature gives you plenty of screen real estate and your Trails are waiting for you when you expand the sidebar again.

Sencha tea leaves and brewed tea

Sencha (Japanese: 煎茶) is a type of Japanese ryokucha (緑茶, green tea) which is prepared by infusing the processed whole tea leaves in hot water. This is as opposed to matcha (抹茶), powdered Japanese green tea, where the green tea powder is mixed with hot water and therefore the leaf itself is included in the beverage.

History

Sencha was first created in Japan in the 18th century by Nagatani Soen, a tea farmer from Uji, Kyoto. The process developed by Nagatani, which involved steaming, rolling, and drying the tea leaves, resulted in a tea that was more stable and maintained its quality during transportation. This innovation revolutionized the Japanese tea industry, replacing the previously common offering of matcha.

Production

After harvesting the leaves are steamed for about 15-45 seconds to prevent oxidization of the leaves. This step creates the characteristic flavor of Japanese green tea by deactivating the enzymes that are responsible for oxidation. The leaves are then cooled and dried in a bamboo tray by air, and then are shaped by pressing and rolling into the characteristic needle shape.

Grades

Sencha comes in different grades, depending on the quality and the parts of the tea plant used:

  • Shincha: First harvest of the year, has a fresh, grassy flavor and higher caffeine content.
  • Gyokuro: Premium grade shaded green tea, with a sweeter, more umami taste than regular sencha.
  • Asamushi: Lightly steamed sencha, with a more fragrant, lighter taste.
  • Chumushi: Medium-steamed sencha, balancing aroma and flavor.
  • Fukamushi: Deeply steamed sencha, with a stronger flavor and less bitterness.
